Our research on the impact of new technologies in the Black Sea region is ready to be published as the first REMIT dashboard. We are pleased to present Babes-Bolyai University’s “Geopolitics and the Impact of New Technologies in the Black Sea Region.
Dashboard author, UBB’s doctoral researcher Anamaria-Florina Caloianu explains of the process:
“The dashboard resulted from the data collection from the REMIT ROUNDTABLE event that took place in November 2023, and it had laid the foundation for an article soon to be published by Presa Universitară Clujeană as part of the third volume of EUXGLOBE Conferences series. The Roundtable highlighted challenges posed to the Black Sea region and the impact of new technologies – the study provided a valuable reflection for the UBB team as it comprised the varied views posed by nine experts spanning different activity fields such as military, academia or government. The Dashboard seeks to encapsulate their perspectives honed through interactions with the topics discussed.”
“Throughout the discussion the responses given by the participants have been documented as well as their individual presentations prepared for the ROUNDTABLE. The following stage was the interpretation of data, starting with identifying the keywords of the discussions therefore their frequency has been noted and represented through the word cloud format. To determine which technologies have impacted the region more through the lens of our speakers, subsequent questions have been posed. Finally, the speakers have been faced with the possibility of advocating for EU/NATO actions in the area or against them as well whether unilateral or multilateral approaches would benefit better the region.”
“Since the findings represented in the dashboard have been reflected in the article soon to be published as part of the volume for the EUXGLOBE Conference, in the future the UBB team will reference this incipient work to better portray studies concerning the development of new technologies. Moreover, the ongoing utilization of Tableau will be a recurring feature in forthcoming projects undertaken by UBB, not solely restricted to REMIT initiatives but also extending to local projects.”
