In the early weeks of July, REMIT’s Flavia Lucenti, representing our Italian partner Luiss Universitá di Roma, presented at two different Italian conferences. She spoke about a paper that’s still on its way to be published, co-authored with an outside-REMIT expert. Below, she gives a little insight into her travels.
“First, I took part in the XVIII Conference of the Standing Group on International Relations (SGRI) of the Italian Political Science Association (SISP), held in Palermo, where I presented in Panel 20: “Economic Security and Europe–Asia Relations in the Era of Strategic Rivalry.” The conference was jointly organized by the Italian Political Science Association (SISP).
I also participated in the ECPR Standing Group on the European Union (SGEU) Conference at the University of Catania. There, I co-chaired the panel “The EU in a Permacrisis: China and East Asian Partners as Drivers of Change” together with Veronica Strina. I also participated as a panelist- It was a very stimulating panel, with Thomas Christiansen serving as discussant. From the REMIT network, Siyuan (Amber) Qiao (Maastricht University) also participated.
At both conferences, I presented our co-authored paper with Giulia Tercovich, “‘Friend-to-Friend’ Horizontal Bindings: The EU, ROK and Taiwan in AI Governance,” which compares AI regulation in the EU, South Korea, and Taiwan. It was particularly well received in both conferences.
I believe this paper will likely be the final publication outcome within the REMIT project.”
