In April 2025, REMIT researcher and Professor at Luiss University Thomas Christiansen, visited a number of leading Chinese universities in the context of a stay as Guest Professor at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou. Even though this visit did not happen through REMIT, it allowed our researcher to present their reasearch and network in a country that’s very important for project purposes as well. Thomas was kind enough to share his small reflection and personal gallery from the trip – thank you, Thomas!
“Invitations to speak at Zhejiang University itself, as well as at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Northeastern Polytechnic University in Xi’an, provided opportunities to share with Chinese scholars and students the insights from research conducted in the context of REMIT, and to engage with some of the country’s leading experts in digital and AI policy about the different regulatory approaches pursued by China and the European Union.
This engagement with Chinese audience was not only valuable in order to arrive at a better understanding of opportunities for multilateral cooperation or geopolitical rivalry in the area of strategic technology governance, but also to give greater visibility globally to the REMIT project and forthcoming publications such as contributions to the leading journals Geopolitics and Global Policy.”
